A sleek yet relaxed décor sets the tone of sophisticated comfort at our Five33 Lounge. Located in the lobby, Five33 offers ample seating whether at the bar, on our lounge-style couches, or seasonally on our deck overlooking the Newport Bridge and Narragansett Bay. Take in your favorite sporting event on one of our wide screen televisions, or in the cooler months stay warm by our double-sided fireplace.
The Five33 Lounge was named in honor of the deep history found right here on Goat Island. Named for grazing goats and home to a number of pirate burial grounds, Goat Island was also the site of the Naval Torpedo Station and one of the original torpedo factories, serving from 1869 until 1951. These self-propelled vehicles were developed on Goat Island and were the most widely utilized torpedoes of allied forces during WWII. These torpedoes measured 533 millimeters in diameter - the size of the stainless tubes featured in our lounge. When you are visiting be sure to check out our historic photos of Goat Island and the torpedo factories that adorn our walls. For the full history on Goat Island, click here.
